The quick answer is that since PrintBoss is a Windows application, it will print to any windows printer. While this is generally true, depending on what type of document you are printing, there are some special considerations.

1) If you are printing checks, you should use a printer that has MICR toner available for it. Due to the wide availability of Hewlet Packard printers, MICR toner cartridges are available for virtually all monochrome laser printers that are part of the HP "LaserJet" family of printers. (Notably MICR toner is NOT available for Color laser printers.) MICR toner cartridges are available for some other brands and models, but it would be important to contact Wellspring Software to see if it is available for a specific brand and model.

2) When printing documents to printers that use "ink jet" technology, the unprintable bottom margin is larger than on a "laser" printer. If your document has printing close to the bottom, it may be truncated. This can be remedied by changing the design, or using the form property in PrintBoss to flip the page top to bottom. This is a common problem when printing bottom checks on ink jet printers. In the case of checks, designing it upwards isn't an option, so using the flip top to bottom solves the problem.

3) HP printers are often supplied with more than one driver. For example offering a Postscript or PCL5e or PCL6 driver is common. Our experience is that the PCL drivers are more reliable, and even though the PCL6 is a newer interface, if there are odd problems occurring in the printing process, the PCL5e will often solve those.
