Sherry, signal strength refers to how well the bank can optically ready the MICR line at the bottom of the check. There are three elements to determining signal strength: 1. How well the toner ink adhears to the check paper; 2. The printer settings of your destination printer; 3. PrintBoss settings.
To adjust setting in PrintBoss open PrintBoss to the Master Application screen (run PB32.exe). Go to Edit, then Form Files and choose your check form. Choose the right bank account at the botton of popup. Now click on View. Double click on the MICR line at the bottom of the check form. When you do that, MICR Command Properties Box displays. On the right hand side of that box is a Boldness setting. You can use the drop down arrow to navigate the settings from Default to Boldest. Adjusting this setting will increase the MICR graphic PrintBoss places on the check while staying within the required ABA guidelines.
