The MICR description indicates the middle of field 44 is 5.75” from the right edge of the page. This is equivalent to 2.75” from the left edge of the page. The field is 1/8” wide, or 0.125”. Therefore, the beginning of field 43 (where the Transit character prints) is 2.2813” from the left side of the page. The margin of error is +/- 0.010.
The bottom 3/16” of the MICR area is blank and the field is 5/16” tall. Therefore, the MICR must fit between 11” and 11.3125” vertically. However, It is recommended that the bottom ¼” remain blank due to print margins, reducing the area to between 11” and 11.25”.
